Is the Agile Alliance irrelevant?

I do not believe that is irrelevant. But it would certainly be useful for it to become "lot more relevant".
This should produce an interesting result if we can get a representative cross section, Simon.
However we must bear in mind that a negative result should not be viewed as a failure of the AA - IMNSHO the Alliance did much to raise awareness of what "agile" is, and so its initial format was valuable (it certainly got my attention). However now that we have the bandwagon effect kicking in it needs to evolve in order to maintain the value of the term "agile".
Its become a bit historical much like the old fellas who drafted the american constitution. Theyve created a lasting legacy.. its time for the AA to move on
